Situated between the Skiddaw range and the shores of Derwentwater is the
pretty market town of Keswick. The town is a popular destination for
walkers, climbers and people just wanting to get away from it all.
Tourism is a major part of Keswick but there is still a strong local
community which appeals to both the younger and older generations.
There are plenty of attractions for all ages in Keswick. Apart from the
spectacular walking, there are a number of museums, art galleries,
historic houses and sites, local tours, festivals and events. These
attractions, in addition to a large variety of outdoor activities
including climbing, boating, fishing, horse riding make Keswick a
fantastic holiday destination.
Keswick also boasts a range of culinary delights including Mexican,
Italian, Indian, and Chinese. There are also a number of bars and pubs
that range from the traditional with open log fires serving real ales to
the trendy and sophisticated wine bars, all of which are within close
walking distance of Bianca Rose.
Within a few minutes’ walk of the thriving town centre there is two
splendid public parks in beautiful surroundings, Fitz Park with the
River Greta running alongside contains a cricket ground, tennis courts,
crown green bowling, putting, a football field and a play area for the
younger children. Hope Park is a favourite stopping place en route to or
from Derwentwater, and includes pitch and putt; crazy golf, putting and
a nature trail, as well as formal gardens with areas that you can just
sit and watch the world go by.
Heading towards Derwentwater you pass the Theatre by the Lake which has
various shows on offer all year. The Lakeshore provides an opportunity
to hop on a cruise around the lake, hire a rowing boat or take in the
views, feed the ducks or just relax in the sunshine.
